Outing Club participates in annual Lake George retreat

While many New Paltz students left campus on Friday, September 26, to head home for Rosh Hashanah, the Outing Club had different plans for the holiday weekend.  More than a dozen students packed into three cars; the trunks full with tents, sleeping-bags and food, and embarked on a camping trip to Lake George.

Known as Fall Lake George, or FLG, the event is a yearly conference in the woods, bringing together more than a handful of collegiate outing clubs (mostly from New York) for the purpose of celebrating their shared passion for the outdoors.  Sponsored by the Intercollegiate Outing Club Association, or IOCA, the trip gives students the opportunity to go hiking, cliff-jumping and swimming while camping on Turtle Island, a small island about two miles from shore.  The event is hosted every year by the Rensselaer Outing Club.
