Digital Literature

In a world that seems to have taken on PC, digital, and electronic forms in many aspects, it was always comforting as an English major to know that a good book could always act as a good escape. Between the cover lay only the smell of new, fresh pages waiting to be read. They were free of complicated html codes and jargon, only refreshing metaphors and irony could be found within the words of great authors. Now, it seems, that this literary haven is being taken over, too. Whether you think it is a positive movement or not, books are beginning to incorporate video games as a strategy to aid in the learning process for kids who are too invested in the electronic world to care about anything else. As a lover of books and words and pages, this is a sad article to read. Others may disagree. Whatever the case may be, this article from the Times discusses the perhaps necessary route to take in order to maintain the education of increasingly technological minds of today's youth.
