Today Jay-Z canceled his second Obama registration concert. He performed on October 6th in Miami for Obama but put off the second show due to a "sore throat." While that's a weak excuse, performers across the board have been stepping up for Obama. Ludacris wrote a song during the Democratic Primary bashing Hillary Clinton and throwing all his support behind Obama. He even had a fundraiser for the presidential hopeful.
People like to complain that entertainers should put their views out into the public and not try to shape public opinion. After all, who are they to tell us what to think. Many entertainers did not go to college and if they did it was for the arts making them less than experts on politics. That being said, this is the most important event in the last four years and if individuals who can help shape the outcome (and lets be honest, they hold clout with some voters) don't use their power, then it goes to waste. I would be extremely surprised if Heidi, from The Hills, endorsing McCain didn't effect the less that intelligent following that show has. This is war and if someone who acts in films or raps about "hos and bottles of Patron" wants to help their candidate, I'm in full support (as long as its for Obama). ;)
