On September 30th piano rockers, Jack's Mannequin released their second album entitled "The Glass Passenger". This was their first album since lead singer and former Something Corporate frontman Andrew McMahom was diagonised with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. McMahom has since made a full recovery, but The Glass Passenger is full of reminders of what he had to go through and how grateful he is to not only still be making music, but to see be alive.
The one song that refelects this the most is Caves. The eight minute 19 second songs has three parts and takes the listener through McMahoms journey through his battle with lukemia. The song is brillantly composed by McMahom, but it is the lyrics that truly display his hardship, such as, "Beat my body like a rag doll you stuck the needles in my hip. Said 'we're not gonna lie. Son, you just might die get you on that morphine drip, drip'" and "she stings my arm in the night.I lay still still I'm ready to fight.Have my lungs, but you can't take my sight. The walls caved in tonight.
The Glass Passenger is a great listen and is full songs with substance, which almost everyone will be able to relate to. The album debuted at number eight on the billboard top 200 list and Jack's Mannequin is currently on tour.
