Operation Baghdad Pups

U.S. soldier Sgt. Gwen Beberg rescued Iraqi puppy "Ratchet" last May from a burning pile of trash along with the help of another soldier. Sgt. Beberg is scheduled to come home next month from Iraq and many people are trying to help all over to get Ratchet to the United States. Over 10,000 petitioners have signed an online petition to bring Ratchet home and Beberg's congressman Keith Ellison also wrote to the Army urging them to reconsider. The program coordinator, Terry Crisp, for Operation Baghdad Pups even went to the middle east to urge the Army to allow Ratchet to come home with its master. Crisp is scheduled to arrive in Baghdad on Wednesday.
The Defense Department does not allow soldiers in the U.S. Central Command to adopt pets. Although, the crazy thing is that there have been exceptions to the rule! Operation Baghdad Pups have aided towards fifty dogs and six cats that have been adopted over the past eight months. The dogs and cats that are left behind soon end up dying on the streets of Iraq.
If people or soldiers are willing to adopt these dogs and cats, then the animals should be allowed to be transferred over to here.
