New Paltz Women's Rugby Takes Another Win

Over this past weekend on Sunday, October 12, the New Paltz Women’s Rugby team took another win against Stony Brook 52-7 on their home field. Getting anxious at first because of the score made on them in the first five minutes, the team prevailed anyway and worked as a united team. As a result of working as a team and maintaining the determination they built up, the girls fought all the way through the rest of the game without getting scored on anymore.
During this game with many fans watching, few people scored because of one player in particular who amazingly scored five times all on her own. At the same time, a first semester rookie scored as well, which was a huge deal. After the game, the team’s standing out of five other teams, including Marist, Stony Brook, Rutgers, Columbia, and Fordham Universities is second place! On the point system, we have 15, and Marist, who is in first place, holds their own with 19 points. Rutgers follows New Paltz with a score of 10. We play our last scheduled rugby game against Rutgers this coming up Sunday at their field, hoping to win in order to play Marist once again in the playoffs. Time will tell who really is the better team.
