"Dolemite" Hip Hop Star Dies Sunday

On Sunday due to complications, Rudy Ray Moore died at age 81. He first began as a singer and then made his way to comedy. Moore was a blaxploitation film icon that starred in Dolemite (1975). His career consisted of 18 films and over 30 comedy albums. Moore was an inspiration to hip hop artists like Snoop Dogg and Big Daddy Kane and comics like Richard Pryor. He was best known for his role in Dolemite as a silver-tongued pimp with a sparkling language. Along with his silver-tongued character came the controversy of either selling or bagging his obscene albums. Moore's complications were due to diabetes and his survived by his daughter and believe it or not his 98 year old mother!
