Dave Barry is a Pulitzer Prize winning humor columnist who has been featured in over 500 newspapers and has written regularly for the Miami Herald since 1983. He is extremely well known for his comic observations on various aspects of American life such as parenting, work, and consumer fads, and he has written many books that have appeared on the New York Times Bestsellers List.
On November 12th, Barry will be the first speaker of SUNY New Paltz's new Distinguished Speakers Series, in which two well known speakers will be featured every year. You can find more information about the event here, and I would encourage everyone to check it out because I've read many of Barry's columns and they are very funny. This is one of my favorites in which he talks about how he got started working for newspapers.
