Venturing Outside the Bubble
Due to the beautiful day outside yesterday, my friends and I decided to take a semi-road trip, well for us and many others that call New Paltz home, a road trip consists of going anywhere past the town limits. I find myself so comfortable and establish such a routine in our cozy little town, that it always amazes me that you can find similar quaint and picturesque towns just 10 minutes down Rt-299. We decided to head out to High Falls, a town about 20 minutes away, to swim and enjoy the few weekends of sunshine that we have left. It was Sunday, and we were amazed at the amount of activity that the towns we passed through had going on. We stopped at the flea market in Rosendale and picked up a few beach chairs, and again at the Farmer's Market in Stone Ridge. Once we hit High Falls, we were ready to sunbathe, but again marveled at how much life this funky little town had. It was filled with antique shops, eccentric restaurants, and unique cafes. As we left for the day we vowed to come back and take advantage of this little treat that we had discovered. As I am a lazy college student, who knows the next time I will make it out there, but I hope that if you haven't been out to High Falls, you make a trip SOON before the sunshine leaves us and the cold sets in!
