AMC's Mad Men series stars SUNY New Paltz Grad

When I first watched Mad Men on AMC, I thought it was another well produced show with a lot of potential for awards and praise . Then I went into my broadcast and cable history class and we watched an episode and I found out that Michael Gladis, a graduate of SUNY New Paltz in 1999, actually is one of the main actors in the show. He plays Paul Kinsey, a copywriter who is trying to climb his way to the top in an advertisement agency set in the 1960's in New York City. Gladis was a Theatre Arts major and also acted in many shows on campus.

The series is based on an advertisement agency in New York that follows the cut throat lives of the business men and woman who live to make a name for themselves through the art of the sell. The series has already received two Golden Globe Awards for best drama due to last year's great season and this year it has been nominated for 16 Emmys. So as you can all see by the many nominations, this is no mediocre show that is never to be looked at again but a show that has the chance of being recognized as one of the best shows on cable TV. The show airs every Sunday on AMC at 10 p.m. and you will definitely be watching an actor on television that was once walking the same campus as you.
