Pasttimes of the Photobooth

On Smithsonian.com there's a pretty good article about the photobooth called "Four for a Quarter." The article has great photobooth photos that a photographer collected at various places like auctions and flea markets. I found the photos to be really incredible as they perfectly showcased the true essence of each person, like the Depression-era workers in their overalls and sad faces. The article also talked a little about the liberating feeling one gets from a photobooth because there is no photographer there to feel embarrassed by. My favorite part was probably when the article said that during the Depression, because of the lack of means to actually build a real photobooth, photographers actually hid behind a curtain and took candid photos of the photo-posers to still give them a true photobooth experience. The photo-posers had no idea their photos were being taken by a real person. I don't know, I thought it was interesting.
