Oh Sarah Palin

Now this is what we are talking about, as a political event such as the presidential election unfolds we find out all the gossip and details of a candidates life they wish was still hidden. This story from the New York Times is about how Sarah Palin would bill the state of Alaska for the time she spent at home. Palin collected just under $20,000 besides her $125,000 salary .All government employs have the right to be reimbursed for the traveling they do while working. I agree that this would make sense but if you are abusing the system you are just hurting yourself, your state, and your chances of becoming vice president. From what the article says Palin would not count the place where she spent most of her time as her main office, her decision let her charge the state so she could stay home and get extra money. Other states felt this as unjust and would not allow something like this to happen. On example used in the article was Governor David Paterson, Paterson used the office where he lives in Harlem as his main office. When Paterson would have to travel upstate to Albany, our capital, he receives no allowance for his trip and stays at the governors’ mansion. A Governor who speaks of all the money she has saved her great state by selling the states jet and driving herself to work sure has a strange way of saving my by billing the state so she can be at home. It might be a difficult situation for her to commute to and from her main office so she made it pay off for her. You also have to remember that she ran for Governor and decided where her office would be. It’s not like she was plucked up one day and had to change her life and was put in such an unjust situation. Palin knew what she was doing when she ran and took advantage of the people she was supposed to be helping so she says.
