"Calabria" singer dead at 33

As we all know the famous song "Calabria" was a major hit and became one of this summer's anthems. Unfortunately, the singer Natasja Saad was tragically killed in an automobile accident on June 2007 in Saint Catherine, Jamaica. She was only 33 years old and her album had just been finished and ready to be released in due time.

Saad, daughter of a Danish photographer and a Sudanese father, started singing at age 13. Her career actually took off after she had won a popular reggae competition in Jamaica, Irie FM Big Break Contest and her prize was a record label, a music video, a photo session and a job at the Reggae Sumfest-festival. She had released 2 albums and 10 singles before her death.

"Calabria" is her most popular song to date and it would give Saad her first US number one single on Billboard's Hot Dance Airplay chart in 2008 (six months after her death) and in the process gave Saad the chart's first number one single.
