How To Get Howard Stern and Oprah Together

Today satellite radio stations XM and Sirius have finally merged. This makes the allure of going with satellite more enticing since potential listeners no longer have to choose between the two different companies. The decision includes sharing some of the more popular channels, such as Howard Stern's, while cutting some of the variety genre-specific stations. This comes at a time when local radio stations are showing low ratings, including some local FM stations in the Hudson Valley-- 101.5 and 96.9-- who have had to release some of their radio personalities due to budget cuts. Satellite radio isn't the only reason for loss of money to FM channels (we can also blame iPods and MP3's for that), but I highly doubt this merger will help them fight back.
