An Awkward Collaboration Comes to Nashville...

For all you 80's hair band lovers, I've got something to tell you that might just disappoint you... Def Leppard, one of the top-selling rock bands throughout the 1980's, selling over 65 million albums worldwide, is teaming up with no other than... no get this... Taylor Swift!  That's right people, Def Leppard is playing a night with the young country songstress for Country Music Television's "Crossroads."

The episode was taped in Nashville on October 6th and airs November 7th.  The men of Def Leppard didn't even know who Swift was, saying, "The first thing we did is Google 'Taylor Swift' and we were like, 'Whoa! She's only a kid!' Then you start listening to the songs and it's like, 'Why wouldn't we want to do this?' I mean she's one of the biggest stars in America now.  It's flattering."  Swift said of the team up, "This is my childhood dream come true, I'm freaking out that that just happened!"

For those of you who love or hate Taylor Swift, one thing is for sure, she's not going away anytime soon.  This team up is just the prelude to her new album dropping on November 11th and her new doll that will start competing with Barbie.  I'm not sure if this is the smartest marketing by her people, because at some point, she might wear out her welcome.  Young artists with longevity in the country music scene have usually tried to keep a low profile (ie: LeAnn Rhimes).  We'll see if this market saturation is the best move for her in the long run.
